DOWTHERM J is a specially engineered mixture of isomers of an alkylated aromatic designed for low-temperature heat transfer systems from -110 °F to 600 °F.
DOWTHERM J can be utilized in the liquid phase as low as -110 °F and up to 600 °F. In the vapor phase, the operating range is from 358 °F to 600 °F. This fluid is exceptional for most demanding single fluid batch processing heating and cooling applications. Dowtherm J exhibits thermal stability that is exceptional in both the liquid and vapor phase. DOWTHERM J heat transfer fluid offers exceptional pumpability at low-temperatures, as well as excellent thermal stability; this offers protection against accidental overheating.
Dowtherm J heat transfer fluid has an extremely low crystal point that can completely eliminate the need for steam tracing (although vent lines may still need freeze protection). Dowtherm J exhibits wonderful heat transfer properties, even at very cold temperatures, with a viscosity of approximately 8 cps at -100 °F. DOWTHERM J heat transfer fluid may be utilized in the vapor phase as well.
Batch processing with DOWTHERM J heat transfer fluid will eliminate system flush requirements that may be associated with steam & brine and steam & glycol systems. DOWTHERM J heat transfer fluid isn't corrosive toward metals and alloys that may be commonly used in heat transfer systems, allowing for peace of mind with regards to compatibility.
This product is intended to be used in a pressurized, closed system with nitrogen blanket and an expansion tank.
Dowtherm J may be used in Pharmaceutical plants, Environmental test chambers, and Fiber spinning.
